Privacy Policy

Yet Another Currency Converter (“the App”) is developed and provided by srmntjpg (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

Summary

The App does not require an account and does not contain advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not sell personal information. The App uses an optional approximate location permission to suggest your local currency, connects to a third-party service to download exchange-rate data, and stores your preferences locally on your device.

Information the App accesses or processes

Optional approximate location

During onboarding, the App may ask for permission to access your approximate location. If you grant permission, the App obtains a location from Android and uses the device's geocoding service to identify your country and suggest its currency.

• Granting location permission is optional. You can deny the request and choose a currency manually.
• The App requests approximate location only, not precise location.
• The App does not retain your latitude or longitude and does not send those coordinates to us.
• Your device's location and geocoding providers may process location data to provide this feature. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.
• The resulting currency code, such as USD or PHP, may be stored locally as an App preference.

You can revoke location permission at any time in your device's Android settings. The App currently uses location only to make the initial local-currency suggestion and does not access location in the background.

Exchange-rate requests

The App downloads current exchange-rate data from the Frankfurter API at api.frankfurter.dev. These requests do not include your entered amounts, selected currency list, saved custom rates, location, or an App-specific user identifier.

As with any internet request, the service and its infrastructure provider may automatically receive technical connection information such as your IP address, request time, and basic request metadata. Frankfurter states that its API does not collect personal data itself, while its public service uses Cloudflare, which may collect basic information for analytics. Learn more at frankfurter.dev.

Information stored on your device

To remember your choices and restore your session, the App stores the following information locally:

• selected currencies and their order;
• the selected currency, entered amount, and calculator state;
• custom exchange rates you create;
• cached exchange rates and their update time;
• theme preference;
• onboarding completion status; and
• your detected or manually selected local currency code.

This information is not transmitted to us. It remains until it is replaced, you clear the App's storage, or you uninstall the App. Depending on your Android device and backup settings, the operating system or your backup provider may include some App data in a device or cloud backup. Any such backup is controlled by you and the relevant provider, not by us.

How information is used

The App uses the information described above only to:

• suggest an appropriate local currency;
• perform and display currency conversions;
• retrieve and cache exchange rates;
• remember your settings and converter state; and
• operate, maintain, and secure the App.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or use your information for targeted advertising. Information may be processed by the following parties only as needed to provide App features:

• your Android device's location and geocoding providers, if you grant location permission; and
• Frankfurter and its infrastructure provider, Cloudflare, when the App downloads exchange rates.

We may also disclose information if required by applicable law or a valid legal process. Because we do not operate an App backend or receive your locally stored App data, we generally do not possess that data to disclose.

External links

The App may open external pages, including the App website, Google Play, and Ko-fi, in your browser or another app. Those services operate independently and process information under their own privacy policies. This Privacy Policy does not apply after you leave the App.

Data security

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the limited information handled by the App, including encrypted HTTPS connections for exchange-rate requests and Android's private App storage for preferences. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Children's privacy

The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can address the concern.

Your choices and rights

You can:

• deny or revoke location permission through Android settings;
• select your local currency manually;
• clear the App's locally stored data through Android settings; or
• uninstall the App to remove its locally stored data from the device.

Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights concerning personal information. To make a privacy inquiry or request, email srmntjpg@gmail.com. Please note that we cannot retrieve or delete information that remains only on your device; you can remove that information using the options above.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App's features, service providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the App after an update means the revised policy applies to your use of the App.
