Yet Another Text Expander

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 5, 2026

Yet Another Text Expander (“the Extension”) is developed by srmntjpg. This policy explains how the Extension handles information.

Information handled by the Extension

The Extension stores the following information locally in Firefox:

This information remains in Firefox’s local extension storage. It is not uploaded to, collected by, or transmitted to the developer.

Website access and typed text

The Extension runs on websites so that it can detect shortcuts and insert snippets into editable fields. It locally examines relevant keyboard and input activity near the cursor solely to provide text-expansion functionality.

Text entered on websites is not logged, retained, transmitted to the developer, or used for advertising, profiling, or analytics.

Users can limit the websites on which the Extension operates through its allowlist and blocklist settings.

Clipboard access

The Extension may temporarily read from and write to the clipboard when necessary to insert plain or formatted snippets. Clipboard content is processed locally, is not transmitted to the developer, and is not permanently stored by the Extension. When possible, the Extension restores the previous clipboard content after insertion.

Import and export

Users may voluntarily export their snippets and settings to a local JSON file or import them from a file they select. These operations occur locally on the user’s device. The Extension does not upload imported or exported files.

External requests

The Extension does not use analytics, advertising services, tracking technologies, or a developer-operated server.

When the Extension’s settings page is used, it may:

As with ordinary web requests, these third-party services may receive technical information such as the user’s IP address, browser user-agent, and request time. Their handling of that information is governed by their respective privacy policies.

External links, including Ko-fi and Firefox Add-ons links, are opened only when selected by the user.

Sharing and sale of information

The developer does not collect, sell, rent, disclose, or use personal information or user-created snippets for any secondary purpose.

Data control and deletion

Users can view, modify, export, import, or delete their locally stored snippets and settings through the Extension’s options page. Removing the Extension will normally cause Firefox to remove its locally stored extension data, subject to Firefox’s own behavior and settings.

Security

Because snippets are stored locally, users should avoid saving highly sensitive information—such as passwords, authentication tokens, or financial details—as text-expansion snippets. Device and browser security remain the user’s responsibility.

Children’s privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if the Extension’s features or data practices change. Any revised policy will include a new effective date.
